The Karelian Bear Dog is a relatively small breed of dog, with an average height between 46 and 56 cm and a weight between 20 and 30 kilograms. These dogs are known for their cold-resistance and their ability to follow a hunting track in the snow. They are loyal and dedicated to their owners, but they tend to be distant with strangers. They are very intelligent and quick, enabling them to swim quickly and efficiently to catch fish. These dogs also have excellent scent and are excellent guards for rural farms.11 - 13
